Setting up your Computer

After unpacking your computer and checking all the items in the box, you can set up and start your computer.

• Set the computer on a flat space. Tower units can be put on their sides.

• Locate your monitor A video display terminal. and computer in a dust-and-moisture-free area where there will be minimal glare on the screen.

• Connect the monitor A video display terminal. cable to the video connector at the back of the computer.

• Connect the mouse A small hand-held device, similar to a trackball, used to control the position of the cursor on the video display; movements of the mouse on a desktop correspond to movements of the cursor on the screen. and keyboard cables to the matching connectors at the back of the computer.

• Plug the monitor A video display terminal. power cord into a dedicated electrical outlet or a surge-protected power bar.

• Plug the system power cord into the back of the system in the matching connector; then plug the cord into the power bar.

Starting up the Computer for the first time

Turn on the devices in the following order:

1. Monitor A video display terminal.

2. External devices (USB Universal Serial Bus. An industry standard for connecting different compatible peripheral devices across multiple platforms. Devices include printers, digital cameras, scanners, game pads, joysticks, keyboards and mice, and storage devices.
